Help I have a brown snake in my yard. What should I do?

My husband has been building a bridge to my house yesterday afternoon. Found a brown snake on drums forest. I have two children and two dogs. I want to leave. Any suggestions to get rid of it and keep them away? I live in Victoria, Australia. I am in an area of the city, but we have returned to a paddock area. Probably always has had and now that I know, I'm in panic. I've only been able to walk within the walls of the reptiles at the zoo the last 12 months! My husband wants to find and keep your head, but I want to call a snake handler, but are so usually I do not know where you are and do not want me or the husband to get him. Do you pass the time once they were discovered or how to proceed? Help, I can not children in the backyard and school holidays and mid-summer. This may not be the section of law to publish, but I'm not sure where else to put. All suggestons useful and I will not use my dogs as bait (or children )!!!!

If one exists, can be more. The best thing to do is rid your garden and clean lots weed or things that might be a snake as a refuge. Brown snakes can be aggressive, and dangerous. Do not let your husband try to play one. Appropriatly fenced yard for brown snakes keep your property will also be useful.
