Cedar Decking Clear

Applied too much Marine Oil, how do you remove?
I’m painting a deck with marine oil but have run into a little problem.
The instructions say to wipe the excess marine oil off after 15-30minutes. I believe I let one part of the deck dry a little too long. The problem is that the extra marine oil on it has become sticky and dried.
I’m looking for ideas on how to remove the stuff.
I’ve thought of sanding it, but am fairly certain the oil would just clog the sandpaper right away.
The wood is cedar and pretty soft, so I’m steering clear of scraping it off with some sort of metal tool.
Is there any chance some sort of solvent would work without changing the color/texture of the wood? If so, what solvent?
If there are any other tips or tricks PLEASE let me know! Thanks for the help!
Could try mineral spirits on a small area to see what happens use a rag then a sponge mop if it works. I
