massive spiders in ireland?(wicklow to be precise)?
Whats the story with all the massive spiders at the mo ? big black/brown buggers, quick as f***.my decking is infested wiv them and they keep getting in the house.
I’m afraid it’s that time of year – my house and garden (In Hampshire) are crawling with the things – apparently they all come out to play in September, and we spot them because they’ve been growing all summer, and now they’re all full size and setting up home all over the place in a bid to catch all the best bugs! I can’t stand them! *shudders*
This is what the BBC have got to say about it:
The last year has been perfect for the critters – a warm winter, a hot summer, then a damp spell, which means lots of other insects for them to eat.
That means there have been more reports of big spiders than usual this year…
…Lots of spiders are usually seen in September, as it’s the time of year when the males come out to look for a mate.
You might be seeing more of the eight-legged beasties this year as research has shown that as the climate changes, they’re moving further north.
